Description
This PALS module gives an understanding of how others communicate non-verbally and the importance of non-verbal communication in our everyday lives. Each module builds on the the participant’s understanding of non-verbal communication and cover topics like body language, facial expressions and personal space. There are 6 weekly modules in this programme as detailed below.
This PALS module is delivered online and starts on Tuesday 14th January, 2025.
Module 1: 14/01/2025 – 3.30pm
- How to show you are listening
- Listening & Body Language
- What not to do when we are listening.
Module 2: 21/01/2025 – 3.30pm
- Eye contact
- Why we might find eye contact difficult
- Tricks and tips for eye contact.
Module 3: 28/01/25 – 3.30pm
- What are facial expressions?
- Identifying the types of facial expressions
Module 4: 04/02/25 – 3.30pm
- Why it is so important to understand facial expressions.
- What do facial expressions tell us about the other person?
Module 5: 11/02/25 – 3.30pm
- What is personal Space?
- Why is it important to respect another person’s personal space?
- Tips on how to respect the personal space of others.
Module 6: 25/02/25 – 3.30pm
- What is body language?
- What can another person’s body language tell us?
How it works:
This programme is delivered online. A weekly zoom link will be sent in advance and we would ask that the participants would log into the programme a few minutes in advance of the start. A quiet space without noise and other distractions is also conducive to getting the most from the programme.
Who will deliver this course?
The course will be delivered by Grace Crowley. Grace has over 10 years experience working with autistic children and has been a presenter on the PALS programme since 2018. Grace was also a key contributor in the development of the online version of the PALS programme.
